Bus Safety

Our drivers work hard to get students to and from school safely every day—but keeping kids safe around a school bus takes teamwork from drivers, students, and families.
A few important reminders:
🔹 Students should always cross IN FRONT of the bus, where the driver can see them. Never walk or run behind the bus.
🔹 Stay where the driver can see you. School buses have large blind spots, especially directly in front of, beside, and behind the bus.
🔹 Wait for the driver's signal before crossing. Even when the bus has its lights and stop arm activated, the driver is watching traffic and may see a danger your child doesn't.
🔹 Please reinforce safety instructions at home. If a driver reminds your child how to safely approach, exit, or cross around the bus, they aren't trying to be difficult—they're trying to keep your child safe.
🔹 Give buses space. Please don't drive around a bus with its red lights flashing or stop arm extended, and be extra cautious around bus stops.
❤️ Parents, we need your help too.

Our drivers can teach, remind, and redirect students, but safe bus habits are most effective when they are reinforced at home. If a driver asks for your help reminding your child about a safety rule, please support them. 
Our first responsibility is the safety of every student on that bus. Sometimes that means correcting a child, asking them to do something differently, or asking a parent to help reinforce a rule.
These aren't arbitrary rules. A child walking behind a bus or moving where the driver can't see them can become a serious situation in seconds.

We all have the same goal: getting every child to school and back home safely. ​
